Mini Wrapfolio

Doreen had a very good tutorial on her blog on Friday - thanks Doreen!! I hadn't tried decoupage on fabric earlier, but after visiting her blog, I just had to!! The result was some mini wrapfolios. I used Sue Bleiweiss' pattern. The notepads are size A6 (5 3/4" x 4"). It's difficult to see on the photo, but there are two pockets on the inside, and the back of the notepad is put into one of them. I think I'll make some more, but bigger.

Bag and Box

I've been playing with the embroidery unit I got for Christmas. I find it difficult to understand the manual, which of course, is written in English and German. So far, I understand there are a lot of things I don't understand........I do wish manuals had to be written in at least one of the Scandinavian languages.
Anyway, the box measures 5" x 5" x 5", just big enough for a small embroidery hoop and some stitcheries. The bag is just big enough to carry my coffee mug to the next meeting in the local quilt guild.

Crib Quilt For A Princess

A new member of our family was born on Monday. I hope the little beauty will enjoy her crib quilt. I found the pattern in "Quiltemagasinet nr2/07".

Tome - Front Cover

This is the front cover of my Stargazer Tome, front and back. Before Christmas, I signed up for Patti Culea's challenge of making one page of the tome every month in 2008. So, this is my page for January.
The dresses are heavily embellished, and the ladies also put on some jewellery.
The brunette says she has "a bad hair day", and I must agree, hopefully the hairdresser has a good idea on Monday.....

Where do you keep all the plastic shopping bags? From now on mine will be stored inside this dog. I used Vera Fjellås' pattern "Posekatta" (Bag-cat), but since I'm a happy dog-owner, I made some changes in the pattern.......
The house is a give-away-bag for that special bottle of wine. Kari Renolen made the pattern called "Vinhus" (Wine-house)

Even More Inchies

I signed up for an inchies swap some weeks ago. These are the treasures I have received. Thanks a lot to Charlie, Renetha, Lisa and Sharon. I think only Lisa is a blogger. They all do beautiful work. We are members of the same postcard-group, so I have enjoyed some of their goodies earlier.

Journal 2008

I've finished the first page of my Journal 2008. The fabric is hand-painted and printed with plastic bubble wrap. (The photo doesn't show the real colours, they are more green/turquoise.) I've been playing with photoprints - great fun!! The handsome young man on his bicycle is my grandfather. The photo dates back to late 1890!! I've also copied some of his medals, and a piece of a paper bag from his shop. He was famous for his blend of coffee.....
As a very old man, he used to tell us a story from one of his bicycle-races. He got a penalty because he was cycling so fast on the countryside-roads that the cattle was frightened. ...

Fabric Journal

I'm a very lucky person! Look what I found in the mailbox today........The most beautiful fabric journal. Thank you so much Sue, it was a BIG surprise!! At last I have somewhere to write down all my good (and all the not so good) quilting ideas. As you can see, there are lots of pages and also some pockets, all very cleverly done, and I just love the batic fabrics.

Make My Day Award

I've been awarded with the "You make my Day" Award by Ati. Thank you so much. -Actually, you made my day !!

It is nice to know that there is someone somewhere in Blogland that is inspired by my little pieces of work.

I would like to pass this award on to some of the people that both inspire me and make my day a little brighter just by reading their blogs:

Annette, Carol, Dianne, Gudveig, Hanne, May Britt, Guzzisue, Veronique

The rules are: "Give the award to up to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel so happy about Blogland! Let them know by posting a comment on their blog so that they can pass it on. Beware! You may get the award several times!"

Some of you may have received this award already, if so, please do not feel any pressure to participate again.

After Christmas

I just received this poem from one of my postcard swap friends, Suzette, and I have to publish it here:

'Twas the week after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt
I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"
So away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
"Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won' t have a cookie - not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Longing For Spring

Every year on the 1st of January, I start the "count-down" for spring, although I know that wintertime has just begun. And every day from now on until 21st of June I read the good news in the newspaper: Today the day is x minutes longer than yesterday and has increased with x minutes since winter solstice.
I'm an impatient person. This wallhanging says a lot of me: I love the time of the year when I can open all the windows, and I love my garden with all the flowers and the birds(- but I admit that daffodiles and snowdrops are not in bloom at the same time as the roses. Even not in my garden!!)
This quilt is my first paper pieced one. Some of the blocks are tiny, only 2", so it was a puzzle to put it all together, but I'm happy with the result. It's also one of my tactile quilts, that's why the curtains are on the "wrong" side of the window!!
